Course Description
From October 24 – 26, 2018, the first Ankleplatform Foot & Ankle Course took place in Shanghai. It was a copy of the original Amsterdam Course including live surgeries and hands-on sessions. The course was organized by Prof. Niek van Dijk in cooperation with Prof. Yinghui Hua and Prof. Shiyi Chen. The course venue was the Huashan Hospital for Sports Medicine from the Fudan University Shanghai, equipped with a cadaver lab with excellent facilities. The program contained a mix of lectures, case discussions, tips and tricks, 3 live surgeries and for each participant a 4 hours hands-on session in the cadaver lab. The course emphasizes the strengths and possibilities of ankle arthroscopy from the perspective “WHY to do it, is as important as HOW to do it”.
The Shanghai Course was both for advanced and beginners who are interested in these new techniques and solutions. There was ample time for exchange and discussion. Participants could only attend the lectures, case discussions and live surgery without hands-on.
