Posterior Tibial Tendoscopy

Description

In the absence of intra-articular ankle pathology, posteromedial ankle pain is most often caused by disorders of the posterior tibial tendon. Tendoscopy of the posterior tibial tendon proved to be successful in tendon sheath release, synovectomy, and removal of a pathological thickened vincula. This diagnostic and therapeutic procedure can be performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia, it allows functional after treatment, quick recovery, and the risk of neurovascular damage is minimal.
