Preparation
Positioning
Reconstruction of the lateral ligaments (ATFL and CFL) is carried out as a procedure in the outpatient clinic.
The patient is placed in the supine position, with a tourniquet around the upper leg. The leg is in an endorotated position by placing a pillow under the ipsilateral buttock (ensure controlateral support). This allows for clear access to the lateral side of the ankle.
Instruments
This set should contain: periosteal elevators, hohman retractors, suture passer, Langenbeck hooks and 2.5 mm drill. Vicryl 1 sutures are used for the reconstruction.
