Positioning
The operation is performed as an outpatient procedure under general or spinal anaesthesia. The patient is placed in supine position, with a tourniquet around the upper leg, a cushion under the ipsilateral buttocks and a support placed on the pelvis at the opposite side. Thereby, it can be useful to put extra support (rolled sterile jacket for example) under the, to operate foot.
Instruments
Besides the Stepplate set, a set is necessary to create the osteotomy. This set should contain: periosteal elevators (bent), hohman retractors, drill (2,5 mm), saw (with large diameter), large diameter osteotoma, K-wires, retractors, etsen forceps and hammer.
